Free Limited Series: Advanced Aging & Care Planning
East Pierce Fire & Rescue offers six sessions as part of a limited series to help family members navigate complex topics and overwhelming tasks many people face when caring for aging family members. We’ll help equip caregivers with helpful tools and strategies to make the care planning process more successful and less stressful.
All sessions are free and take place once a month on a Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., beginning June through November 2025. Sessions will be held at alternating East Pierce fire stations, with the option to attend in-person or virtually.

2025 Advanced Aging & Care Planning Series
SESSION 1: Do's & Don'ts for Aging & Care Planning

Planning for the care of aging family members can feel overwhelming even to the most capable individuals. Come hear some practical strategies to make care planning more successful and less stressful.
SESSION 2: Keep it Legal!

Understanding and preparing legal documents for decision-making – come learn about the different types of legal documents for decision-making, including Financial and Health Care Powers-Of-Attorney, Advance Directives, and POLST forms.
SESSION 3: Preventing & Recovering from Scams, Fraud, and Identity Theft

Discover how to identify and avoid scams and fraud so that you do not fall prey to financial harm, including identity theft.
SESSION 4: Solving the Mysteries of Medicare and Medicaid

Although often mistaken for one another, Medicare and Medicaid are important for all of us to understand as unique types of health insurance which provide benefits to millions of seniors and disabled persons.

SESSION 5: Caring for the Caregiver

Millions of Americans work as unpaid caregivers to friends and family members in need daily. Come learn about the physical and mental stressors experienced by these caregivers and discover practical steps that they can take to help them improve their overall well-being.
