How to Report Property Damages Associated with Atmospheric River Event

12/12/25: Pierce County Announces How to Report Property Damages Associated with Atmospheric River Event

Pierce County continues to respond to impacts associated with the atmospheric river and widespread flooding across the region this week. Residents and businesses affected by the severe weather are encouraged to report damages to help the County assess impacts and coordinate recovery efforts.

Reporting damage is an important first step in determining community needs and may be required before state or federal disaster assistance becomes available.

How to Report Severe Storm, Wind, Flooding and Landslide Damage

Pierce County has established a centralized webpage for damage reporting and recovery information:

www.piercecountywa.gov/reportdamage

The site includes reporting options and recovery resources for:

  • Residents – Report damage to homes or personal property and learn about potential disaster assistance programs when losses are not covered by insurance.
  • Businesses – Report business losses to help assess economic impacts and support eligibility for state or federal recovery assistance.
  • Public Entities – Access information on FEMA Public Assistance, including reimbursement for debris removal, emergency protective measures, infrastructure repairs, and mitigation efforts.

Pierce County Emergency Management will use submitted information to better understand the scope of damage, support recovery planning, and advocate for additional resources.

Weather conditions can change quickly. Community members are encouraged to stay alert to safety guidance, evacuation notices, and road closures, and to report damage as soon as it is safe to do so.
