Fire Extinguisher Training

Know how to use it before the emergency happens.

Having a fire extinguisher is important—but knowing when and how to use it can make all the difference in an emergency.

East Pierce Fire & Rescue offers free, fire extinguisher training for groups and organizations within our fire district. This hands-on class is designed to build confidence and skill before a real fire breaks out.

What You’ll Learn

Our training covers:

  • When it’s safe to use a fire extinguisher—and when to evacuate instead

  • How to quickly assess the type of fire

  • The PASS method:
    Pull. Aim. Squeeze. Sweep.

  • Basic safety precautions and tips for storing extinguishers at home or work

Why It Matters

This training won’t replace calling 911, but it might help make the difference before firefighters arrive.
