Department Personnel

EAST PIERCE FIRE AND RESCUE serves a population of 75,000 citizens living in and around Bonney Lake, Sumner, Lake Tapps, the Ridge Communities, South Prairie and Wilkeson. The district covers approximately 142 square miles and protects residents from eleven stations – five staffed and five volunteer and one water rescue facility.

All full-time firefighters are cross-trained as either emergency medical technicians (EMTs) or paramedics and are able to respond to both medical emergencies and fires.

In 2008, we responded to a total of 6,691 emergency calls, a two percent increase over the previous year. Of those calls, 74 percent were medical in nature.

Our department is divided into eight divisions, including Operations, Emergency Medical Services, Volunteer, Training, Fire Prevention, Safety, Emergency Management, and Budget and Finance.
