TWO SPLASH-TACULAR water safety events on Lake Tapps!

EPFR's water rescue team members, Bonney Lake Police, and Pierce County Sheriff make learning open water safey fun. Join us for games and demonstrations about life jacket use, cold water incapacitation, and carbon monoxide poisoning on boats.

The events are scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 at Pierce County North Tapps Park, and again on Saturday, August 10 at Allan Yorke Park in Bonney Lake.

Water Safety Concepts Taught

Learn techniques to help a swimmer in distress by reaching with a stick or pole, or throwing something that floats, rather than jumping in and becoming a victim yourself.2008 Splash-Tacular on Lake Tapps.

Life Jacket Relay Race
Children learn why it is important to always wear a life jacket in and near the water, and how challenging it is to try and put a life jacket on with split-second notice.

Water Safety B-I-N-G-O!
We'll reinforce water safety habits through an engaging game of bingo!

Cold Water Incapacitation
Glacial-fed waters and swimming can lead to tragedy. Children will learn the symptoms of cold water incapacitation and how to stay safe while swimming in our cold waters.

Fun with EPFR's Marine Service Unit
Hear and talk with an EPFR diver underwater using a headset.  Use our underwater camera to see what the diver sees while underwater. Squirt water from the boat's fire hose.

Life Jackets

Wearing a life jacket is the most important part of water safety. East Pierce Fire and Rescue offers discount life jacket sales and free life jacket loaners. Click here to learn more.

Life jackets will be available for purchase at this event (wearer must be present for custom fit).
